It’s still cold outside, your dogs are getting restless, what do you do? Have no fear, we have some great ideas to keep your pups busy.
Dogs turn to naughty behaviors like destruction or behavior problems when they can’t exert their energy so exercise is key. Exercise does not only mean running around it also can mean puzzles, training, friends and toys.

Sniffing: Dogs exert energy through sniffing, hiding toys with treats is a great way to get your dog sniffing and looking for exciting treats. Almost like an easter egg hunt for dogs
Toys: Similar to the licky pad you can also do the same with rubbery toys with holes in them like a kong or something similar you can put peanut butter inside and then freeze it and give it to them this exerts a good amount of energy for your dog and is also an awesome thing to give your dog before you leave if they get bored or have anxiety.
Licky pad: These are great to keep your dog busy not only while it’s cold inside but also during baths. These wonderful little pads stick to the surface and you can put pumpkin puree, peanut butter, or something pet friendly and spreadable to it and stick it to a surface for your dog to lick. This keeps them busy for a while trying to get every little spot licked clean.
Puzzles: Puzzles are not just great for human brain stimulation but also for dogs. There are many different versions out there to keep your dogs on their toes. You put little treats in the little different sliders and pockets to keep your dog guessing how they can get those treats. There are nobs and different obstacles for them to conquer to get the treats.
Playdates: Just like kids you can set up a playdate with a friend’s dog or can drop your dog off at a doggy daycare that way your dog can go play with others to get some of that energy out and be social with friends.

Training: Even doing a training session for 15-20 minutes a day takes a lot of focus for your dog which will help exert energy. Not only will they get great mental stimulation but they will also become well trained as well.
Let us know how you keep your dog busy during these final winter months. Leave a message in the comments about how these worked for you.
